Vintage Original Gouache (c.1950) Traveling Circus by Mears

Description

For sale is this absolutely beautiful watercolor and gouache painting of a traveling circus being set up. The piece is signed at the lower right "Mears" (photo 2). The artwork measures 19" x 24" in the mat. The scene depicts bystanders, a roustabout hammering, workers in the background and the circus tents with pennants waving. The image is on paper which has been scotch taped to the mat on the backside (photo 3). Reds, blues, greens and tan predominate. Reminds me very much of the circus paintings of Reynolds Beal.
